Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 2, 2025
Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Boontel's services. By creating an account or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Service Description & Consent
Boontel provides tools that help detect and warn about potential phone scams. With your consent, the app may process call metadata and call transcripts (via speech‑to‑text) to compute scam risk and display warnings. Where required by law, an audible indicator will play during monitored calls. You may disable monitoring or unlink caregivers at any time.
1. Service Description
Boontel is a call‑forwarding based protection layer designed for seniors and families. Core features may include:
- Call forwarding setup: Use the senior’s existing carrier number with forwarding to a Boontel “guardian” line
- In‑app calling: Answer monitored calls over Wi‑Fi or mobile data to receive warnings and guidance
- Caregiver linking: Invite a trusted caregiver to join calls and review optional summaries
Boontel is not intended to be a general-purpose phone service. The app is not a general SMS messenger; however, Boontel may send limited informational text messages for security authentication (OTP) and service alerts as described below.
2. Eligibility and Account Creation
Services are available only to:
- Individuals 18+ years of age residing in the United States
- Users who provide accurate, complete Know Your Customer (KYC) information as required by FCC regulations
- Users who maintain valid payment methods for service fees
You must provide truthful identity verification including name, date of birth, and address for fraud prevention and regulatory compliance purposes.
3. Pricing and Payment Terms
Boontel may offer free and paid plans for scam detection and caregiver features. Details will be presented in‑app or on our website at time of purchase. Payments are processed securely by third‑party providers (e.g., Stripe or app stores).
4. Service Limitations and Restrictions
- US Only: Services available exclusively within United States and territories
- Fair Use: No commercial use, resale, or automated dialing systems
- No Emergency Calling: Boontel does not support emergency calling (e.g., 911/988). Do not rely on Boontel for emergency services. Use your device’s Phone app or a landline for emergencies.
- Restricted Outbound Dialing: Boontel does not provide a general dialpad for calling arbitrary numbers. Outbound calling features may be limited to specific workflows (for example, protected callbacks) and may be restricted to trusted/approved destinations.
- Network Dependencies: Service requires internet connectivity; quality varies by connection
5. Compliance
We aim to comply with applicable US laws and app store policies for call monitoring and privacy. Where two‑party consent applies, we use an audible indicator to notify call participants while monitoring is active.
